**The US National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area. Maricopa County Parks & Recreation takes the safety of our visitors seriously. As such, to align with local weather officials' recommendation of avoiding outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, the decision has been made to cancel this program. This website is the best source of up-to-date information about the status of Ranger programs. We hope you'll check back here and consider attending another of our many upcoming programs!
Join Ranger Eric to look for and learn about scorpions, spiders, snakes, owls, and other nocturnal creatures we might encounter! We will hike about 0.25-0.5 miles roundtrip on the in Escondido Wash off the Lousely Hill Trail. The grade will be easy, but walking on sand. Please bring pre-hydrate and have electrolytes before arriving, carry ample water, bring your own flashlight or headlamp, and wear sturdy footwear. A blacklight is recommended, but the ranger will have one to point out scorpions with. Restrooms are available just past the trailhead.
MEETING LOCATION: Lousely Hill Trailhead.
