The hike is rated as moderated only for the final 100ft elevation gain to the top of Lykes Lookout, however the rest of the hike is on even flat ground. The hike itself will cover sections of Palm Lake, Mesquite Meander and Lykes Lookout trails and be just over 2 miles in length. Water and bathrooms can be found next to the main parking lot. Hikers should have a water bottle, wear supportive closed-toe shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather. Flashlights are available to borrow without a fee from the visitor center. Cellphone lights will not be sufficient.

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 9/2/25.
