Enjoy an early morning walk to watch for birds, lizards, snakes, and small animals with
Ranger Olivia. Click on program title for more details.
Let’s see what sorts of wildlife we can spot. Birds should be active at this time and there’s not a bad chance for lizards, and small animals too. This hike will be a 2-mile hike on the Spur Cross and Metate trails. These trails are easy-moderate with mostly flat ground, but there are sections with loose rocks and uneven ground. There is also a slight hill at the beginning of the trail as well so please wear close-toed shoes and bring plenty of water! There is a restroom but NO potable water in the park at the trailhead. Spur Cross is CASH ONLY, please bring $5 per person for the entry fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online before coming to the park.
