The hike is rated as easy and will cover 2.5 miles and gain 250 ft of elevation on sections of Gila, Baseline, Rainbow Valley, and Horseshoe trails. All hikers should bring water and come pre hydrated, wear close toed shoes and wear protective clothing/sunscreen. Hikers with mobility issues may benefit from hiking poles. There is no water or bathrooms at the trailhead, but both can be found at the Nature Center.
