Morning Cactus Hike: Strenuous (Registration Required, Limit 25 Participants)

Join Ranger Derik for a morning hike through lush cactus forest and learn about the adaptations they use to survive in the beautiful Sonoran Desert! Click program title for more details.

This Hike will cover 3.5 miles and gain 168ft of elevation on mostly flat sandy trails in a loop starting and ending at the nature center. Along the hike the Ranger will stop to talk about the many cacti, plant and animal species that call the park home. Hikers should bring at least 1.5- 2 liters of water with them and come prepared for full sun and heat. Water and bathrooms are located at the nature center, where we will begin. Please make sure to wear sturdy close-toed shoes and if balance is difficult trekking poles can be a great help. If you find you cannot attend a program after  you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
