Homeschool students can learn about the many cactus varieties found in our park with fun activities and games. This class will be outdoors the whole time and will involve a one-mile roundtrip hike.

Welcome homeschoolers! This class takes place on the trail and is all about those particularly prickly plants called cacti – saguaro, cholla, barrel, prickly pear, hedgehog and pincushion. We’ll learn about growth and life cycles, adaptations and how they serve as homes and food sources for many desert critters. We’ll also measure some young saguaros, estimate their age and compare that to our human ages and life stages. You just might have a saguaro twin out there! The hike will be approximately one mile on moderate terrain. The class includes hands-on activities and a take-home project. (No maximum participant limit for this outdoor class). Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water, a hat and sunscreen. Meet inside the Nature Center before we head out on the trail. 9:30-11am.
