Learn about birds of Sonoran Desert and migrant water birds on this walk with Ranger Eric. We will first meet at the Wild Burro Day Use Area, which is located off Desert Tortoise Rd.; see the two sides of the map here: lake-pleasant-8x111.pdf (maricopacountyparks.net). From Wild Burro, we will drive or hike a short distance up the peninsular ridge next to Two Cow Cove where we can scan the lake for water birds with a scope and binoculars. At this point in fall migration, we may see ducks, loons, grebes, and gulls out on the lake. For those of us up for a hike, we will go on the Wild Burro Trail for 0.5-1 mile, which is easy to moderate, but slightly rocky or uneven in places. Please bring water and wear sturdy footwear. To register, please email Ranger Eric at eric.hough@maricopa.gov.
