Limit 10 people. Learn about birds of the Sonoran Desert on this guided hike! Click on program title for more details.
Join Ranger Eric to look for and learn about the resident and migratory birds of the Sonoran Desert on this easy to moderate hike. Along the way, we will also discuss ecology of the desert and how birds are adapted to this arid environment. We will meet at the Goat Camp Trailhead and hike about 1-1.5 miles total on mostly easy grade, but slightly rocky trail. Goat Camp Trail will take us just below a stand of elephant trees, one of the northernmost populations of this species, which is an important food source for wintering gray vireos. Wolfberry bushes along the way may attract sparrow flocks. Please bring water, sturdy footwear, protective clothing and/or sunscreen, and binoculars or camera if you have them. Space is limited. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 5.
