Learn about birds of the Sonoran Desert on this hike with Ranger Eric! Click on program title for details.

Join Ranger Eric to look for and learn about the resident and migratory birds of the Sonoran Desert on this easy to moderate hike. Along the way, we will also discuss ecology of the desert and how birds are adapted to this arid environment. We will meet at the Goat Camp Trailhead and hike about 1 mile up Goat Camp Trail to just below a stand of elephant trees, one of the northernmost populations of this species, which is an important food source for wintering gray vireos. Wolfberry bushes along the way may attract wintering sparrow flocks. Please dress in layers, wear sturdy footwear, carry ample water and snacks, and binoculars or camera if you have them. Restrooms are located at Area 1 about 0.25-mile away and also at the Nature Center next to the White Tanks Public Library.

To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 5. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
