Join Ranger Eric to look for birds and dragonflies of Sonoran Desert riparian wetlands while we hike primitive trails along the Gila River. Along the way, we will discuss identification tips and learn about the local ecosystem. We will also learn about our community science initiative, the Maricopa County Parks EcoBlitz, which is featuring round-tailed ground-squirrel as this month's challenge. We will hike about 0.5 mile of easy to moderate trail. Please bring your own water and snacks. Sunscreen, protective clothing, insect repellent, a hat, and sturdy footwear are recommended. Restrooms are available at the Nature Center. Please meet at the Nature Center parking lot and we will caravan over to the access spot. We will plan to end by 9am, although may end sooner depending on how quickly it heats up. Space is limited.
