With this combination outdoor/indoor class led by Ranger Nikki you can learn about some of the plants in our Sonoran Desert that have served as nourishment and medicine for generations of desert dwellers. Click program title for more details.

Take an easy walk with Ranger Nikki to see some of the trees, shrubs, flowers and cacti that have sustained desert inhabitants for hundreds of years. Then, relax inside the Nature Center classroom to view a slideshow that highlights some of the properties, nutritional components and uses of these important desert plants. Commercial product samples will be available to try. The walk is on easy terrain along Desert Hawk Trail and the paved road in the Campground. There is one spot with a step-up and step down to cross the dry wash. Wear closed-toe shoes and a hat and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.

Meeting location: Nature Center back patio (Nature Center opens at 7am)

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Usery Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 4 with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
