Visit the Discovery Center to chat with Ranger Nikki about the seasonal shift in weather patterns that can bring about unpredictable and extreme conditions – haboobs, wind, downpours, flash flooding, hail, lightning, and even tornadoes. The official “Monsoon Season” will already be underway so there may be plenty to talk about! Learn about some of the conditions that contribute to this weather, why the rainy season is important to desert plants and animals and how you can stay safe when the weather gets wild. The information table will be set up from 2pm to 4pm so stop by at your leisure. If you are recreating before or after the program, remember your closed-toe shoes, sun-protective clothing and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Discovery Center.
