Learn about the Sonoran Desert in springtime with a chance to see critters on the move and possibly wildflowers and blooming shrubs. Late fall rain started some of our plants’ life cycles and it will be possible to see signs of poppies, lupine, desert hyacinth, brittlebush, globemallow and more. Ranger Nikki will take you along the lower section of Goat Camp Trail, South Trail and the connecting portion of Mule Deer Trail. We will also use a portion of paved roadway at the beginning and end points. The total distance is approximately 3.5 miles. The terrain is mainly flat and level to but there are some uneven areas with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Area 1 / South Trailhead meeting location.
