Desert 101 hike (Registration Required, Limit 20 Participants)

Join Ranger Derik in the far northeast section of the park and hike through towering Saguaro and see sweeping views of pristine Sonoran Desert. Click program title for more details

The hike will cover 3.5 miles out and back along the Bald Eagle Trail and the Auga Fria River and is considered as moderate. Hikers need to hiking boots and trekking poles are strongly encouraged as the trail is very rocky. The hike may be shorter if lake levels have risen cutting off access to the riverbed. Hikers will be able to see native American pottery, and have views of Indian mesa and surrounding mountains on this hike. Bathrooms are located at the trailhead but there are no bathrooms so please make sure to pack plenty with you. For those of you participating in the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, this is a great way to work towards your goal! The challenge runs from Nov.1-Feb. 8.
