We’ll be on the lookout for all kinds of evening-active critters, from skunks to spiders, snakes, fox, coyote, deer, owls and of course scorpions! Bring flashlights; black UV lights are also helpful to spot scorpions. We will be hiking begin along the Moonlight Trail and then connect onto the service road to create a loop of about 2 miles. This trail is rated easy and begins with most of the trail being flat, there are some rocky/uneven areas as well as the service road being more sandy and uneven. There are restrooms and water at the Nature Center near the trailhead. Please no pets! Please also have $10 cash per vehicle or your annual Maricopa County Parks pass for the entry fee as the Contact station will be closed.
PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online before coming to the park.
