Enjoy the setting sun and a full moon hike while looking for and learning about wildlife of the Sonoran Desert with Ranger Eric! Click on program title for more details.

Join Ranger Eric to go on a full moon hike on a 1.9-mile loop involving portions of the Blevins, Cats Peak, and Pass Mountain Trails while we look for nocturnal critters of the Sonoran Desert. We will use a blacklight to look for scorpions, listen for owls and nightjars calling under the full moon, and look for reptiles, amphibians, mammals, spiders, insects, and more wildlife as we hike. Please wear sturdy footwear, carry ample water for yourself, pre-hydrate and take electrolytes beforehand, and bring flashlights, headlamps, or blacklights if you have them. We will be hiking on some uneven or rocky surfaces of easy to moderate grade. We may do a shorter route if the weather ends up being hotter that day (distance and duration can be adjusted so that no one overheats). Restrooms are located at the Trailhead Staging Area parking lot.
