Hike through a beautiful cactus forest in the cooler winter weather with Ranger Derik and learn about the amazing species that call the desert home.
Come join Ranger Derik on the 3.2-mile Lost Sheep trail and learn about the many cactus species found in the Sonoran Desert and the unique adaptations they use to survive in such a harsh climate. The trail is relatively flat and graded as easy. The trails can be rocky, sandy, and uneven at times so please wear proper close-toed shoes and bring plenty of water. Please check the weather before the hike and dress appropriately for the temperatures. Meet for the hike at the Usery Regional Park Nature Center by 10am. The nature center has water fountains and bathrooms. Please no pets!
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Usery Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 4. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 02/27/2023.
