Would you like to meet some scorpions and other “creepy-crawly” critters? Join Ranger Kevin for an evening of insect improv! Click program title for more details.

We’re setting up our version of the silver screen near the Nature Center tonight. Once it’s dark, we’ll turn on the spotlight and enjoy the show that unfolds, as all manner of arthropods are drawn to the light. We’ll even have a few “creepy-crawlies” on hand to look at. Plus, conditions permitting, we’ll take a short night hike out on a nearby trail to look for scorpions with a UV light. This is a great opportunity to ask your bug-related questions, learn about unique and interesting animals like palo verde beetles, whipscorpions, tarantulas and giant desert centipedes, and get a good, close up look at any insect guest stars that deign to join us. Family friendly program. Restrooms are available nearby, but please bring plenty of water. NO pets, please.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center

PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online before coming to the park.

No registration required.
