The hike will cover 3 miles along the quail and baseline trails and gain roughly 400ft of elevation gain. The trail is steep and rocky in spots so sturdy shoes are recommended and hiking poles can be helpful. All hikers will need water and a flashlight and if you have a blacklight feel free to bring it along but if you don’t have one that’s alright. Water and bathrooms can be found at the nature center. The first half of the hike will consist of talking about native plants, animals, and local history. The second half after the sun sets will involve looking for nocturnal animals and scorpions with a black light.
