Join the Ranger for a moderately easy 3 mile hike and visit to Hohokam sites.

(This program is now full and cannot accept anymore reservations)

Join Ranger Steve for a moderately easy 3 mile loop hike on the Spur Cross and Metate Trails. The trails are rated easy, but it should be noted that there are some narrow, rocky, and uneven sections along with several small hills. The topic of the hike will focus on the Ancient Hohokam, their history, lifestyles, all the way to the story of their contemporary descendants. We’ll also look at some of the plants and other natural features they utilized as part of their day to day lives.

We will meet at the trailhead next to the portable restrooms at 2pm. Please stop at the "Iron Ranger" box to pay your $3 per person park entrance fee before meeting at the trailhead. Remember to wear closed-toe shoes and bring water. No pets, please!

To register, please email Ranger Steve at stephen.dacosta@maricopa.gov. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email Ranger Steve ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will end on 02/08/2023.
