Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary year with Ranger Jacque under the glow of the full moon! Embark on a nighttime journey through Usery to discover how this celestial beacon has guided generations of Americans through the desert landscape. Click program title for more details.

Celebrate the spirit of America 250 by experiencing the desert in a whole new light! Join Ranger Jacque to discover the magic and majesty of the full moon rising over the mountains—a timeless lantern that has illuminated the paths of indigenous peoples, explorers, and settlers for two and a half centuries of our nation's story

This 2-mile hike follows the NoSo, Blevins, and Crismon Wash trails in a loop, starting from the NoSo Trailhead. Terrain features include firm gravel sections of trail, sandy wash sections, and an elevation difference of just over 100 feet. As we walk, we will listen for the mysterious sounds of the night and look for the unique creatures that become active under the moon’s silver glow. This program provides a unique opportunity to reflect on our shared heritage while immersed in the natural beauty that has remained a constant through 250 years of American history.

Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Small hand-held flashlights are OK, but please refrain from using headlamps to preserve our night vision.

MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging Area, at the NoSo Trailhead access point
