During this night hike we will be looking for wildlife, specifically scorpions, along the trails while also stopping to talk about how important scorpions are not only to the ecosystem but the image of the Southwest. Arizona, among many other places in the world, has a variety of scorpions that are native but for some reason scorpions are always one of the first things people ask about when they visit. Why? Well, join Ranger Olivia on this night hike and find out why scorpions are so intertwined in Arizona’s history. Make sure to pack flashlights and blacklights, if you have them, and make sure everything is charged or have extra batteries. We will be hiking along Shallmo Wash, this trail is mainly sand/dirt and is rated easy with some rocky/uneven parts. There are restrooms at the trailhead. Please no pets!
