Help commemorate America 250, the initiative to honor our Country’s 250th birthday, by learning all about saguaro cactus, the iconic symbol of both our State and of the Southwest. Click program title for more details.
Relax and stay cool inside the Nature Center as Ranger Nikki leads a presentation on the Sonoran Desert’s majestic saguaro. Learn about their life cycle – from tiny seed to many-armed giant to fallen skeleton – and all the beneficial things they provide in between. Discover how this keystone species has garnered federal and state recognition and protection, as well as worldwide adoration. There will be a slideshow, specimens to examine and worksheets for children. (There is a separate saguaro walk before this class. See listing for Saguaro Walk). Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
