Participate in citizen/community science with the Fall eBird Global Big Day, the counterpart to the spring version which happens annually on World Migratory Bird Day! Join Ranger Eric for a 'big sit’, a stationary type of bird count to look and listen for resident and migrant species within the diverse riparian habitat of the Hassayampa River Preserve, as we tally birds with the eBird citizen science app. We will discuss how to identify birds by sight and sound, and learn about the behavioral and ecological traits that make them unique, useful bird apps like Merlin, and about citizen science apps like eBird and iNaturalist. Some binoculars are available to borrow at the Visitor Center, but please bring your own if you have them. Please wear sun protection.

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 10/8.
