Join Ranger Derik on a hike through the desert and learn about the cacti that call the Sonoran Desert home. The hike will follow sections of the Spur Cross and Metate trails for 3 miles as the path moves from desert landscape down into riparian habitat.
Hikers will be rewarded with impressive saguaro cacti and a variety of cholla species. The trails are rated as easy but it can be sandy and rocky at times so make sure to wear proper footwear and please bring plenty of water. The hike will begin from the Covered Picnic tables just past the entry station. There are no water fountains at the trailhead so please plan accordingly.
Registration is required. Limit 18 participants. To register, please email Ranger Derik at derik.rodgers@maricopa.gov and include name, contact information and the number of people. Registration deadline: 1/24/23
